Build your career

If you are hands-on and enjoy practical challenges, a job in construction could be for you. Construction is one of the UK’s largest industries, and offers many career opportunities. Our construction crafts qualifications are delivered in workshop environments, meaning you can experience your chosen trade as you would in the industry.

Gain knowledge, skills and experience

Our qualifications are suited to people of all skill levels, and we will help you develop as far as you want to go.

You will have access to industry-standard equipment, workshops and facilities within our technology Block, and you will be taught by staff that have worked within the industry, who apply their knowledge to your course.

Our staff have all worked in the construction industry and bring a wide range of professional experience to lessons. They will help you develop knowledge and skills that are valued by employers.

Working with real companies

The college has extensive links with employers throughout East Kent, such as Halsion, Mears, DMA and Watkins – all leaders in their industries. This means you will have the opportunity to visit real businesses and link up with employers to do work experience. Many students have gone on to work for construction companies they made contact with.

Big projects

Your practical learning won’t be confined to the workshop. Students are encouraged to take on big projects with local companies as the clients, and get involved with building the College.

Your Study Programme

While you study for your main qualification you will benefit from a Study Programme designed just for you. You will take part in activities such as work experience, tutorials, enrichment activities and work-related learning.

You will also continue to study maths and English as these skills are important to construction crafts. Be it measuring materials or talking to clients about their projects, maths and English underpin all of your studies, and we will help you to improve your understanding.
