Appeals:

The centre keeps a range of appeals packs for you.

Application Forms:

Staff are able to help students with completion of application forms.

Care Leavers:

Canterbury College has a designated member of staff, Kay O’Connell, that supports younger people leaving care who enter FE and progress to HE.

Connexions Guidance Adviser (Careers):

Julian Hodges is a Connexions Guidance Adviser available to provide Careers and Progression advice for young people from 16- 19 yrs. Students can see Julian between 9am-12noon on Wednesdays in the Student Information Centre for one to one interviews, or in the LRC Drop-In on Wednesdays 12noon - 1.30pm. Connexions Personal Adviser (Welfare):

Kay O’Connell is a Connexions Personal Adviser available to work with young people who require support for personal issues. Kay is based predominantly in the Student Information Centre but will also provide a service to Sheppey.

Course Information, Advice and Guidance Team:

Offer information, advice and guidance on courses at this College and other Colleges. Progression, UCAS and H.E information, advice and guidance are also available to centre users.

Disability Advice

If you are disabled and require any information or advice on any aspect of being at college including support with learning and access or you just need someone to talk to, contact the Disability Adviser, Sharon Clarke, in the Information Centre. You can phone Sharon on 01227 811334, email her at s.clarke@cant-col.ac.uk or drop-in. The Disability Adviser also liaises with other departments to ensure your additional needs are met, arranges personal evacuation plans, provides information on the Disability Policy and has information about external organisations.

Disciplinary:

If you are a student who needs support during a disciplinary process a member of the team can help you.

Individual Advice and Guidance sessions:

To arrange an individual advice and guidance session with a qualified Adviser and explore your options in careers, education courses,  progression, or work issues such as CV writing,  and more contact the Student Information Centre on 01227 811188 courseenquiries@canterburycollege.ac.uk or Juliet Morris on 01227 811245. Sessions are free, confidential and impartial.

The centre stocks a wide range of resources: Welfare, Careers and Progression Self Help Guides.

Sexual Health Nurse:

Contact the information centre for details of how the Sexual Health Nurse can help you.

Key Services

Student funding including support for you to access Educational Maintenance Allowance, Adult Learning Grant, and Learner Support Funding. Information, Advice and Guidance regarding careers and courses. Personal Adviser including health related and personal problems.

Every service offered in the Student Information Centre is free of charge, impartial, confidential and open to everyone. Information will only be passed on to other agencies with your agreement.

UCAS

Student Guide to UCAS Application

For Higher Education courses other than those at Canterbury College you will need to apply through UCAS. Applications need to be completed online. The UCAS website explains in more detail how to apply. If you need further assistance please come to the Information Centre.
