Health and Social Care Higher National Diploma - Level 5
The BTEC HND in Health and Social Care has been designed to equip individuals with underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for success in employment in the health and/or social care sector at a supervisory or management level. The programme provides specialist studies relevant to individual vocations and professions in which learners are working or in which they intend to seek employment in the health and/or social care Sector. It enables individuals to develop the ability of learners to contribute to the health and social care environment through effective use and combination of the knowledge and skills gained in different parts of the programme
What will I learn?
Learners will develop skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in their working life, enabling them to make an immediate contribution to employment. They will develop transferable skills and knowledge which will enable them to meet changing circumstances, whether moving within their own area of employment, moving up to a supervisory or management position or adapting to general changes in the provision or environment of health and social care. Modules will include: Communicating in Health and Social Care; Organisations Principles of Health and Social Care Practice; Health and Safety in the Health and Social Care Workplace; Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through course work, written assignments, presentations and project work.
What may it lead to?
This programme prepares individuals to progress to further professional development such as the Higher National Diploma in Health and Social Care delivered at Canterbury College. Students are also enabled to undertake employment and career advancement in the health and social care sector.
Applicants must have at least one of the following:- 1 A level/Advanced GCE or 2 AS levels in appropriate subjects or an appropriate Advanced National Diploma/Certificate or equivalent qualification. Mature students with relevant experience but without formal academic qualifications are welcome to apply.
