The Stationery Shop

The stationery shop is run and staffed by students from the Business and Computing Section.

Stephen Garnsey and Lucy Howard (both 'point 5' Trainer/Demonstrators Business), work with the students to enable them to do this.  This includes curriculum input on aspects of their courses relevant to business, retail and administration and the assessment of students' practical and written work whilst in the shop.

Stephen works Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays; Lucy on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Francis Lovett is a full-time Administrative Assistant (Apprentice) who assists the students with administrative matters and provides a limited service for staff during non-term times.

We open in term time:

  • Mondays to Thursdays 8.45-3.00 (closed 1-2 for lunch)

  • Fridays 10.00-3.00 (closed 1-2 for lunch)

We sell a range of value-for-money general stationery items (e.g. pens, pencils, files, folders, paper), as well as greetings cards, postage stamps, tissues, ID card holders, CDs, DVDs, memory sticks, batteries and headphones. We’ll also order any specialist stationery or equipment that you may need.  Supplier catalogues are available for you to browse through.

The shop exists to:

  • Provide business students with practical experience of key aspects relevant to their studies in business, retail and administration
  • Provide a realistic work-based way for business students to achieve and be assessed in key learning outcomes which are part of their qualification
  • Provide a service to students and staff of the college.

Information for staff

Staff can obtain college approved basic items from the shop at no cost to your cost centre (as they are charged to a central college budget) if the items are for your personal use (ie not for student use including student use in the classroom and including files/folders for you to keep student work).

See Staff Approved Basic Stationery, complete the form with the items you need and collect the items from the shop when we confirm that your order is ready.  It’s as simple as that.  However, very large orders may be turned down and will need to be charged against your section's cost centre by internal transfer.  We'll contact you if this is the case.

If you want items that are not on this list – or items for student use or for storing student work – you need to complete a Stationery Shop Internal Transfer Form and obtain the budget holder’s signature before the items can be taken from the shop.

[If you need the items urgently, you can pay cash, ask for a receipt, and we will give you a refund once you come back with the receipt and the internal transfer form signed by the budget holder.]

We would also welcome any reusable  carrier bags.

SPECIAL ORDERS

We have supplier catalogues for you to research special items that you may want to obtain.  You can then order these items yourself by raising a purchase order form or we can do it for you.  Please advise us of specialist items you or your students may need.
