Safeguarding
Any student can approach any memeber of staff anytime about Safeguarding and they will listen to you and act upon what you say.
The College has procedures in place to investigate and deal with Safeguarding responsibilities and take them seriously.
So if you have concerns about your wellbeing or that of others please share them with; your personal tutor, your class rep or with any member of staff.
You can also get free confidential advice about a range of personal, academic and financial problems from the Student Information Centre.
Bullying: What is it and what to do about it.
Every student is entitled to learn in a safe and supportive environment but sometimes, unfortunately, a student may find that they are being threatened, abused or harassed by someone else in the College. This is bullying.
If you are being bullied, or if you know someone who is, don’t ignore it. This behaviour won’t change or go away on its own. There are things you can do.
- For advice online visit NHS For Young People's website.
- Speak to your tutor or to the Personal Adviser in the Student Information Centre (Kay O’Connell 01227 812060 or 07834960049).
- Keep a record of each incident and save any texts or emails you may have been sent.
- Try not to retaliate or fight back. This will not help and could make matters worse.
- Remember that bullying is the fault of the bully, not the person being bullied.
Staff will listen to you in confidence, will take the problem seriously and will help you to deal with it. No one deserves to be bullied; so if you are, please come forward and help the College to help you.

At Canterbury College we want all our students to be successful and enjoy their time at College. We also know that some students are concerned about the costs of studying and travelling to college.
That’s why we’re making it easy for students to study and travel with a new scheme where our students can apply for free bus passes during the autumn term or financial help with rail passes and KCC travel cards. You can also apply for help with the costs of childcare, levies and equipment for your course.
