Success for First Business Fashion Fix
A unique fashion show raising money for six charities has been staged at Canterbury College.
The Business Fashion Fix marked the culmination of months of planning which involved collecting thousands of items of clothes, shoes and accessories with a collection of the best outfits from the donations being modelled.
Students from across the College took to the runway on the main Street area of the Campus on New Dover Road, with their hair and make-up designed by students studying Hairdressing and Beauty.
The fashion show, which was the first of its kind at the College, also included performances by Dance students and featured music mixes provided by the Music Department and Computer Support.
The show was followed by the opportunity to buy the outfits and many other donated items in a giant indoor one stop charity shop.
Julia Joslin, Section Manager for Business and ICT, said: “I am very proud of all the students involved in staging the Fashion Show as they have worked incredibly hard for many months to plan every last detail. The event has also given them some fantastic skills that they will eventually take into the workplace. Because the day went so well we have already decided that we would like to make this an annual event at the College.”
The event raised money for the following charities:
-
The Children’s Trust, Tadworth
-
Cancer Research UK
-
Age UK
-
British Red Cross
-
Barnardo’s
-
Pilgrims Hospices
