No Blue Monday at Canterbury College

Canterbury College has been helping to banish the winter blues on what is said to be the most depressing day of the year.

A combination of the cold weather, debt, time since Christmas and failing New Year resolutions has led to Monday 24th January being thought of as Blue Monday.

But students at Canterbury College have been carrying our random acts of kindness and encouraging others to do the same to make everyone feel a little bit more cheerful.

Hosted by the College’s very own “Blue Man”, events at the New Dover Road campus throughout the day included:

Creating your own Hot Chocolate with extra cream and marshmallows
  • Blue cupcakes
  • Giant games and a bean-bag chill out zone
  • Performances by the College’s Glee Club
  • Happy Films
  • Live Music
  • Free treatments in the Beauty Salon
  • Tell us what makes you smile pledges

While Canterbury College leads the way with Blue Monday events, it’s expected other organisations across the county will also encourage staff or customers to get happy.

Canterbury College aims to be a hub for these events and initiatives, collating them on our Blue Monday website and our Blue Monday Facebook page.
