Fair for All – Diversity at Canterbury College

Climbing wall

A Chinese juggler, a forty foot climbing wall and a French café were among the attractions at Canterbury College’s annual Fair for All event.

The Fair for All event is a 3-day, twice yearly mini festival held in the newly refurbished ‘street’ area of the college. The festival is for students and staff and is aimed at raising awareness of equality and diversity issues.

The event included displays and activities from all curriculum areas of the College as well as outside agencies, including the Fair Trade Network, Seeds for Africa, Skillnet and Community Policing.

Students and staff were encouraged to scale the climbing wall, which was presented as part of the Aimhigher programme, or learn Chinese Circus Skills amongst many other activities. Food from around the world was on offer , the beauty and holistic department carried out free Indian Head Massages and the performing arts students performed ‘Messed Up Morals’ in the Lanfranc Theatre.

Lut Stewart, Director of Student Support Services said: Fair for All brings a real buzz to the College and is a great opportunity to celebrate Equality and Diversity. We had hundreds of students learning and participating in an amazing range of activities. It was fantastic to see the commitment and enthusiasm everyone brought which made the event a huge success”
