College wins top Regional Building Excellence Award
The £50 Million redevelopment project at Canterbury College has won the LABC South East Building Excellence Awards event held in Brighton earlier in June. Canterbury College is also a finalist in the National Local Authority Building Control Building Excellence Awards to be held in October 2009 in London.
The Awards are dedicated to showcasing the best the construction industry has to offer in the South East. It recognises and rewards the most forward looking people and organisations, highlighting the most innovative construction projects completed over the last year.
The College began its three Phase redevelopment project in 2006 with the first two phases being completed on schedule and on budget in early 2008. The College and its development team have been commended and praised for innovation and best practice with the Canterbury City Council Building Control department which nominated the College.
Alison Clarke, Principal and Executive Director said: ‘To win this award – and even to simply be identified as a national finalist proves the level of commitment and professionalism demonstrated by the College team, consultants and contractor and the College thanks all involved and the City Council for nominating us.”
The National Awards will attract a large audience to the prestigious London ceremony
adding an aura of professionalism and gravitas to the whole occasion. Receiving an award at the presentation dinner will be the ultimate accolade, although everyone can expect a great evening with an excellent meal and a chance to network and relax.
