College Students Celebrate Royal Wedding in Style

Hairdressing students at Canterbury College create wedding day hair styles on models to celebrate the Royal Wedding

Students at Canterbury College have been joining in the celebrations to mark the Royal Wedding.

NVQ Diploma Level 1 and Level 3 Hairdressing students used the occasion to research and create some amazing Wedding Day hairstyles. The designs were then shown off to their full potential with models dressed in Wedding gowns and wearing tiaras.

After the hairstyles were completed, the students took part in a wedding style photo shoot with students studying Photography at the College.

Student Jamie Timms, 20, from Whitfield, said: “The look that I’ve created today is Bridal Elegance. I started off by putting the hair in rollers to create body and then set the hair into the finished style. The Royal Wedding has really inspired me and I’m sure Kate Middleton will have a fabulous hair style on her big day.”

Amy Edwards from Whitfield was Jamie’s model and gets married herself in December: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed having my hair done today and it’s given me an insight into what I might have done for my wedding. I’m looking forward to watching the Royal Wedding and might get a few ideas for my celebration!”

The day ended with a street party style event in the Hairdressing Salon at the New Dover Road Campus which had been specially decorated with, Union flags, St George flags, Kate and William memorabilia and red, white and blue balloons.

Kim Heath, Section Manager for Hairdressing, said: “I thought it was really important for the students to recognise the event and be able to tell their children and grandchildren how they celebrated the Royal Wedding. They all had a thoroughly good time creating mood boards showing different Hen Night, Wedding Day and Honeymoon hairstyles and the designs created on the day looked fabulous.”
