College Artwork on Display in the City
Sculptures and paintings by Art students from Canterbury College have gone on display in the centre of the city in a major exhibition of their work.
Curious Curator features a range of pieces by students on the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma (Level 3) Art and Design course and runs alongside the Sounds New Contemporary Music Festival.
It’s the second year the exhibition has been staged and last year welcomed around 200 people a day.
Ben Kidger, Course Tutor, said: “This is a really community orientated event and it’s great to be able to take our work to such a prime location in Canterbury and show off the student’s abilities to people who live and work there. The exhibition marks the end of months of hard work by the students and I’m very proud of the finished result. I also have to say a massive thank you to Canterbury Cathedral who provided the venue.”
The sculptures include a giant bird suspended from the ceiling, while among the paintings are a crashing wave and fairground carousel.
The Curious Curator exhibition is at 20 Sun Street, Canterbury from Wednesday 18th May – Saturday 28th May between 10am – 4pm.
