Hundreds of school children enjoyed sting-in-the-tail fairy tales when they watched Canterbury College’s production of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes.

The College’s Lanfranc Theatre was packed out for the end-of-term show by the College’s BTEC Level 3 Dance and Drama students. They performed the show, based on Dahl’s classic children’s book, to more than 140 Year 5 and 6 children from Wincheap Primary School and Pilgrims Way Primary School.

The young audience enjoyed the six alternate morality tales that included new takes on Snow White and Cinderella. More than 80 Performing Arts students were involved in the production both on stage and behind the scenes.

The show was a hit, and the Performing Arts department received dozens of letters from the children praising the show and asking about the next production.

Dance and Dramatic Arts section manager Gill Workman said: “The students were delighted to welcome Wincheap and Pilgrims Way Primary schools to the show. We are very proud of our talented student performers, stage managers, technicians and designers who have only been training at the college for 12 weeks but are already achieving the highest standards of performance and production in the Lanfranc Theatre Company. We look forward to helping these young people achieve success in the entertainment industry.”

Canterbury College offers a wide variety of Dance and Drama courses, ranging from Performing Arts to Theatre Production Arts. To find out more go to canterburycollege.ac.uk/drama-dance.
