Canterbury College Welcomes Star Performers

Children interested in a career in show business are benefitting from state of the art facilities at Canterbury College as Star Performers Academy begins classes at the campus.

The Academy – which was founded in 2009 by Emily Wood and Paul Hendy of Evolution Productions – offers classes in dance, drama and singing to 8-18 year-olds.

The couple, who produce the record breaking pantomimes at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury and the Central Theatre in Chatham, also invite guest professionals to take lessons in stage combat, audition techniques and circus skills. A TV presenting class was recently taken by Kent’s very own Laura Hamilton who is currently starring in Dancing on Ice.

Classes run at the New Dover Road campus every Saturday, with students able to use facilities including a dance studio, industry standard TV studio and performance theatre.

Paul Hendy, of Evolution Productions, said: “Canterbury College is the perfect setting for Star Performers Academy. Its professional and modern facilities create a wonderful environment for the students and we are absolutely thrilled to be based there”.
