Beauty Students Raise Hundreds for Charity
Beauty Therapy students at Canterbury College who have been raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society
Beauty Therapy students at Canterbury College have raised £300 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
More than 30 first year BTEC National Diploma Beauty Therapy students gave people the chance to raise money while relaxing, by providing Back, Neck, Face and Scalp massages at the College’s Beauty Salon based on New Dover Road.
As well as making money for charity, the event also provided a great opportunity for the students to experience working with clients in a professional environment.
The Alzheimer’s Society is the chosen charity of the Beauty Therapy Department at Canterbury College for this academic year. Last year they raised more than £900 for good causes and have already exceeded that amount. In the past the Department has donated money to Help for Heroes, Pilgrims Hospices and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia and affects around 465,000 people in the UK. People in the early stages of the disease may experience lapses in memory and have problems finding the right words. As the disease progresses they may also become confused, forgetful, experience mood swings, become withdrawn and less confident.
