Apprenticeship opportunities at Canterbury College Open Day

There will be plenty of Apprenticeship opportunities at Canterbury College’s February Open Day

We’ve seen Sir Alan Sugar hiring his Apprentice in the boardroom, now it could be your turn to become an Apprentice in your dream job by coming to Canterbury College’s Open Day.

The College is running a series of activities to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, ending with the Open Day which takes place from midday to 6pm on Friday, 10 February.

Whether you are hoping to start an Apprenticeship or are already and employed and want to get work-based qualifications, help is at hand.

There will be a stall where people can get practical advice and guidance about joining one of the College’s many apprenticeship training programmes, which include Mechanical Engineering, Health and Social Care, Childcare and Accounting and Dental Nursing. The usual advice will also be available from course tutors.

Some courses have rolling start dates, meaning people can apply for them at the Open Day. The College will be holding taster sessions of all its Apprenticeship courses throughout Apprenticeship Week.

Through apprenticeships, young people gain on the job training alongside studying for qualifications. Depending on the type of role, apprenticeships usually last between one and two years, and give young people a firm footing within a company and some can also lead to a degree level qualification at university. The College plans to launch even more Apprenticeships this year, including new higher level apprenticeships.

As well as Apprenticeship guidance, there will be stands and displays showcasing the hundreds of A-level, BTEC and Higher Education courses available at Canterbury College.

Visitors will able to look around the newly-opened A-Block which contains commercial and training hair salons, a training spa and childcare facilities.
