The LANFRANC THEATRE presents a double bill - Students' end of year performances...
-
Arden City
The play, Arden City, starts at an immense pace (..... a murder plot and a potentially fatal fight). It asks questions about the perceived nature of progress, family and identity. It confronts the relativity and the nature of time and feelings.
The action of the play takes place in the city of London and on the allotments, in the shadow of the Olympic construction site.
The allotments are a haven, a magical world with a more sensible way of life. An alternative to the urban jungle.
-
Success
Success by Nick Drake is a fast - paced, epic yet intimate play about truth, love, greed and excess, loosely inspired by Hogarth’s allegorical sequence of paintings The Rake’s Progress, eight panels that chart the decline and fall of Thomas Rakewell.
Success strongly differentiates itself from this chilling depiction of greed and offers us a new and contemporary story that inhabits its own world and that is above all active three - dimensional and human.
Success is a love story between Tom and Lucy. Their story is the heart of the play – an intimate ‘chamber drama’ that is surrounded but not engulfed by the epic and Rabelasian elements of Nick Shadow’s world.
